Meet the Directors

Petra Ballet Company is a professional Christian ballet company based in Springfield, Missouri. Jason and Kim Raymond serve as the Founders and Directors of the Company and School of the Arts. Kim, a native of Springfield, danced professionally and toured with Ballet Magnificat! from 2001-2007. Jason and Kim met in Jackson, Mississippi, and were married in 2004. Jason later served as Road Manager with Ballet Magnificat! as the couple travelled together with the Omega Company. God soon began stirring their hearts to move to the Midwest.

Petra was birthed from a desire to see the Name of Jesus lifted up through excellence in the arts. God began speaking to their hearts about being the Rock, the foundation, the cornerstone of this company and ministry. The name “Petra” comes from Psalm 18:2:

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

Petra Ballet Company was founded in January of 2008 and soon after, the School of the Arts was established. Jason serves as the Executive Director and Kim as the Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer of the Touring Company and Director of the School of the Arts. In 2018, the Junior Company was launched as an extension of the school.

The heartbeat of Petra Ballet Company is to dance upon the steady Rock of Jesus Christ and allow the power and expression of movement to display and impart the love, healing, and freedom of God to audiences everywhere. The Touring Company is composed of professionally trained artists with a passion for worship. With a strong background in classical ballet technique, the company has a contemporary flare and uses all forms of dance in performance. The company performs locally as well as touring nationally and internationally. Petra Ballet Company is a non-profit organization.
